Prevent Heartworm Before it Becomes a Problem
It’s Heartworm Season
Spring is here and with it comes the mosquitoes the primary vector for your dog to get heartworms and unfortunately there is no easy way to tell if a mosquito is infected.
What is Heartworm?
Heartworm is a parasitic disease that affects mainly dogs. It is caused by foot-long worms that live in the heart, lungs and blood vessels of affected pets and can cause severe lung disease, heart failure, and death.
How is Heartworm Treated?
The best treatment option is prevention. Once your dog has heartworms they are difficult to get rid of. We use Simparica Trio a triple combination parasiticide for dogs that combines flea and tick treatment with the prevention of heartworm disease and treatment of gastrointestinal parasites.
Heartworms are easy to prevent but difficult to cure.
